Under $20The hot dry summer of 2006 blessed all the growths of Bordeaux, and wines from modest regions like Chateau Saint-Nicolas ($18.95 - LCBO# 138602) from the Premières Côtes de Bordeaux seems to echo the bright sunshine that helped coax its deep red fruit notes. Made mostly from Merlot, this a great wine to serve those who retain a Sideways-era bigotry against the great grape. There is a touch of tannic firmness and pleasing zing of acid in the St. Nicolas that makes it an ideal pairing for roast chicken.
